| Shamanism as Gay Power: Gay Men Living on the Edge with Tony Allicino, David Conneely, & Tom Cowan |

"Come away, oh human child,
to the waters and the wild, with a faery hand in hand, for the world's more full of weeping than you can understand." Yeats' poem can be read as a call to gay men to come to the wildness of their true nature and deepen their role in the world of spirit. In fact, we are already at least halfway there because historically and culturally we live "on the edge," as outsiders, outlaws, and innovators, embodying a powerful and unique connection to the imaginative realm. We have had to create ourselves out of the misty, in-between place where we live. In a very real sense we live outside the laws of gender and traditional role models. This betwixt-and-between state does not have to be a place of psychic tension or spiritual separation or tragic disconnection from the larger culture. It is a place of power. In this workshop we will use shamanic journeying and ritual to tap into our unique power as outsiders, innovators, and witnesses to proper self-love and acceptance. We will explore ways that allow us to manifest our unique, wild, faery nature to bring healing and joy to a world full of weeping. This is an advanced level for men who have had basic shamanic training and know how to journey and work with power animals.
